A New School Kitchen

Donated by the Tim Shannon family, a new school kitchen was built in 2007 and includes three efficient stoves used to cook hot meals of porridge for the school children each school day. Students bring their own bowls from home and collect firewood on their daily walk to school so the school doesn’t have to purchase the wood for the stoves. It was because of this daily, hot meal that the student population swelled from 500 students in 2005 to the 750 students who are served today.

Additionally, our donations provide funds used to employ two full-time cooks at the school. In 2015, the PTA presented the cooks with two new bicycles to make their long journey to their job easier.
